Bridge Documentation

This rare Phoenix column through truss has been preserved for pedestrian use and a park created around it.

The bridge was originally a railroad bridge on the L&N Railroad, and was donated by the railroad to the city in 1902 and moved here in 1905. The construction date of the bridge is not known, but bridges of this type date to ca. 1880 or earlier. The National Register Nomination says that Louisville Bridge Company built the bridge but it is not known where this information came from. The bridge is a standard design of the Phoenix Bridge Company, although it is possible that they just fabricated the bridge and that Louisville Bridge erected the bridge.

Drone video is available on YouTube.
