This bridge is an example of a highway plate girder in Maine. Maine built a number of highway plate girders in the 20th Century in both urban and rural locations. This bridge is a representative example. New Jersey barriers have been integrated into the inside of the girders, an alteration that was not part of the original design. The girders themselves appear to be largely unaltered.
