This bridge is an excellent example of a Luten arch bridge. It retains the original railings which follow the typical design for a rural Luten arch bridge.
Luten Bridge Company of York, Pennsylvania was one of several independent companies across the country (some of were called "Luten Bridge Company" others were not) that had patent rights to Daniel Luten's designs. However, the Historic Bridge Inventory incorrectly suggests that the York company was Luten's parent company. Luten's parent company was the National Bridge Company of Indianapolis. However, Luten also licensed other companies to use his patented designs, which is how "other" Luten companies sprung up across the country.
