This bridge is a good representative example of a curved t-beam freeway overpass in Michigan. Curved t-beam overpasses exist in a few different states across the county, but most out of state examples lack the aesthetic qualities seen in Michigan's unaltered examples, where the arched beams combine with Michigan's signature Type R4 railings and the attractively shaped piers to form a visually pleasing overpass, a genuine rarity on an Interstate Highway. I-94 contains the largest number of remaining examples in Michigan, particularly unaltered examples which retain original railings. Among those with original railings, some have had Armco guardrails added to the inside, while others have no added guardrail. This bridge is an example of a bridge that has had Armco guardrails added, but with original railings remaining behind. This bridge stands out from the average curved t-beam for its 47 degree skew.
