This three span culvert is of interest because it has three spans, but two different designs. Two of the spans are pre-cast concrete boxes, while a third span at one end looks like a concrete arch, but is listed as a steel arch, so it appears to be a concrete encased steel culvert. The bridge is a relatively early example of a pre-cast box culvert that retains integrity including original type R4 railing. The presence of R4 railing, and even a full size plaque is unusual for a bridge of this size. The R4 railing is very unusual on this structure because the panels are extremely long, indeed about twice as long as most examples of R4 railing. As a 1939 structure, the railing posts follow the earliest form of architectural detailing used on the posts.
