Lattice guardrail stringer bridges are generally a rare find on a statewide scale, but in Huron County they appear frequently, both on public roads, and also as private drives, all crossing the numerous small creeks and large drains that are present in the county.
This bridge however is unlike the majority of these bridges. It is older, with a 1915 construction date. More interestingly, it features lattice railings whose lattice includes angled sections of steel rather than simple bars of steel. This design would seem to be to make the lattice stronger, and seems a logical choice, although in Michigan the design is uncommon. However in Ontario, lattice railings of this design appear frequently, and appear to have been a standard design of some sort. An example is the Drake Road Bridge.
