This bridge is a rare Michigan example of a historic dam bridge. Integral with a dam, this bridge carries Silver Lake Road over both the dam and the water at the same time. Despite the specialized nature of the bridge, the structure displays typical period details including the balustrade design that was very prolifically used for a surprisingly short period in Michigan, between 1928 and 1932. Usually these balustrades appear on steel stringer bridges, but in this case, the bridge is listed as a t-beam. A typical period standard Michigan State Highway Department plaque design is present as well on the bridge. The bridge appears to be unaltered from its original design.
