Bridge Documentation

This bridge is one of two traditionally composed railroad over highway overpass bridges in Jackson that retain good historic integrity. These kinds of structures are common in large cities, but not so much in a city like Jackson. As such, these bridges are locally noteworthy. Their traditional design includes through plate girder spans supported by steel bent piers.

While not noteworthy enough for its own page, there is a small two span 1902 King Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio deck plate girder bridge over Grand River next to the Mechanic Street Railroad Overpass. It retains a large builder plaque on it. A few photos are available at the end of the photo gallery.
