This is the second longest metal truss highway bridge from the Monroe County collection, and its trusses are also in the best condition. Although the construction date is unknown, since the 1910 date given in the National Bridge Inventory appears to be incorrect, this bridge appears to be the oldest of the Monroe County highway truss bridge collection. This bridge has the distinctive, unique detail of custom-designed castings for the diagonal lateral bracing rods on the  floorbeams. These castings are highly unusual and do not  follow the more standard connection methods normally seen for diagonal lateral bracing  rods.

Prior to being rescued and placed into storage for future restoration, the bridge was in extreme danger of collapse due to the southern stone abutment which had completely crumbled between the end posts, leaving narrow pillars of stone under each  end post, with stones on one of the pillars leaning precariously. The bridge had not been open to traffic since perhaps around 1970.
