This riveted deck plate girder bridge was widened on one side with modern girders in 1984. The south side has the new girders. The north side, where the original riveted girders are also retains the original railings. Fortunately, the north side is the side of this bridge most readily visible to the public from the park and walkways north of the bridge, so despite this major alteration the bridge still displays the same general appearance on the north side so the consequences of the alteration are relatively minimal.
