This 1927 arch bridge was carefully widened in 1940 while maintaining its original aesthetically pleasing design. The design of the original bridge was under the direction of Conde McCullough and like most of the Oregon Coast Highway Bridges, he designed this bridge to look beautiful while also complimenting the natural beauty of the coastline. The 1940 widening was respectful of the original design, with only minor structural differences visible between the two halves. The west (seaward) side of the bridge is the 1940 side.
