This is a single span concrete arch bridge. It is noted for its very unusual railing design, and indeed it is also noted for retaining its original railings since concrete arch bridges often suffer from replacement of their original railing. The railings have bolts on the end that indicate that lighting was previously mounted on the bridge but has been removed. Concrete arch bridges are few in number in Michigan today, and this surviving, largely unaltered example is increasingly significant in Michigan. If the reported 1910 construction date is accurate for this bridge, it is a very old surviving example of its type in Michigan. There are areas of considerable deterioration on this bridge, and no reinforcing was observed in these areas. Some or all of the bridge may be made of unreinforced concrete, which would be rare as well.
