This bridge along with the similar and nearby Banning Railroad Bridge, are extremely rare examples of a K-truss bridge. The K-truss was regionally more common, such as in the state of Oklahoma, which had a standard plan for a K-truss. No such plan ever existed in Pennsylvania, and as such, this is an extremely rare bridge. In addition, it is noteworthy as a deck truss version of this type. Finally, the bridge itself is similar both large and massive, and it is significant in this regard as well, representing a significant engineering project.
