View Archived National Bridge Inventory Report - Has Additional Details and Evaluation

This bridge is a nice looking riveted pony truss. It appears to retain good historic integrity with no major alterations noted. The bridge has been closed to traffic as of 2013. There does not appear to be any major problems with the truss superstructure, so rehabilitation appears to be feasible and cost effective.

Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge Inventory

Discussion of Bridge

The 4 panel, 57' long and 15.8' wide riveted Warren with verticals pony truss bridge built in 1911 is supported on ashlar abutments with wingwalls. The trusses are traditionally composed, and the outriggers are original. The bridge appears to be complete, but it has no innovative or distinctive details and is not an early example of the most common early-20th century metal truss bridge type and design. Neither the bridge nor its setting are historically or technologically significant.

Discussion of Surrounding Area

The bridge carries 1 lane of an unimproved township road over a stream in a sparsely developed, rural area with scattered 20th century residences. Beyond one quadrant is an altered vernacular house with replacement windows and siding. The area does not appear to have historic district potential.
