This state standard pony truss is noted as a rare example that still retains its original lattice railings. There is a plate girder bridge a short distance to the east of this bridge.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The single span, 121'-long riveted steel Parker pony truss bridge is supported concrete abutments with flared wingwalls. The truss top and bottom chords are built up of channel sections and plates. The vertical and diagonal truss members are rolled beam sections. Rolled steel floorbeams and stringers support the concrete deck. The original steel lattice railings are still along each side of the roadway. The bridge built in 1947 is a very late example of its type, which was a common 1930s design. The bridge is not a technologically distinguished bridge. The setting does not appear to be historically significant. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge carries a 2 lane state highway over a stream in a predominantly wooded area.
