This abandoned railroad bridge located next to the historic remains of the Carrie Furnace is noted for its massive 500 foot (estimated) main span. The northern approach has been removed while the southern Y approach system remains intact. The two largest spans of the bridge offer a nice comparison between the Pennsylvania and Baltimore truss configurations. A historical article states that the bridge was built by the American Bridge Company of New York, New York's Keystone Bridge Works. It would have been one of the first bridges built after the formation of the American Bridge Company. W. H. Smith designed the bridge as Chief Engineer of the Union Railroad. John C. Spencer was found listed as a consulting engineer.
