This bridge is a traditionally composed warren pony truss that includes a concrete deck with large curbs. The bridge also includes single pole railings. The bridge appears to retain good historic integrity. Given the rapidly deceasing number of historic metal truss bridges in the county, the below assessment that this bridge is not historic might well need to be reconsidered.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge Inventory
Discussion of Bridge
The 1916, single span, 52'-long, rivet-connected Warren with verticals pony truss bridge is supported on concrete abutments with flared wingwalls. The trusses are traditionally composed with built up members. The bridge is an undistinguished example of a type and design used with frequency since the early 20th century. It has no innovative or distinctive details, nor is it documented to builder. More than 100 riveted truss bridges erected before 1920 remain in the state. Neither the bridge nor its setting is historically or technologically significant.
Discussion of Surrounding Area
The bridge carries a one-lane unimproved road over a stream in a sparsely developed, wooded setting. The setting does not have historic district potential.
