This bridge was built as part of the famous Fallingwater residence that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The bridge, also designed by Wright is one of only two known bridges designed by the famous architect. Taken as a bridge alone, the structure is unusual, simple, and very plain in appearance. Solid concrete parapets seamlessly transition into the superstructure creating a single uninterrupted concrete wall. In contrast to the simple appearance of the concrete, the bridge sits on handsome stone abutments. These details when taken by themselves, seem both uninteresting and unusual. However, when viewed alongside the Fallingwater house itself, the appearance and design of the bridge makes sense, and harmonizes beautifully with the building.
