This classic pin-connected pony truss has been altered by the addition of a load-bearing arch to the trusses.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The superstructure is modern. Based on similarities with 49 7212 0802 0050 that is dated 1983, the steel thru arch bridge placed around a ca. 1900 pin connected pony truss bridge is dated to ca. 1985. There are several other 1980s examples of this approach to retaining truss bridges in the northern and western parts of the state. New floorbeams were added when the steel arch was placed. The steel grid deck is also modern. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge carries a township road over a stream in the settlement of Roaring Branch. The old buildings are highly altered, and the setting does not have the significance or integrity of a historic district. Bridge Considered Historic By Survey: No |
