This is a traditional example of a small scale closed spandrel arch bridge.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The 2 span, 137'-long reinforced concrete arch bridge built by the county in 1921 is supported by a concrete pier and abutments and is finished with paneled concrete parapets. The panels have bush hammered finish. Spalled areas have been patched with lighter concrete. The bridge is an undistinguished example of what by 1920 was common technology. Neither the bridge nor its setting are historically or technologically significant. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge carries a 2 lane roadway with 2 sidewalks over the Schuylkill River in a mixed use section of Schuylkill Haven with a late-20th century shopping center and extensively altered late-19th and early-20th century houses.
