This bridge's future is at risk!

Bridge Status: This historic bridge is slated for demolition!

Abandoned in the raised position since 1976, this is one of the oldest surviving Scherzer rolling lift bascule bridges in the country. It has a high level of significance as one of the earliest examples of a bridge type that has enjoyed immense popularity: rolling lift bascule bridges are even used in modern bridge construction today. This bridge is locally known as the "Stuck Up Bridge." Despite its high historic significance and despite the fact that it is not at risk for collapse nor is it in the way of anything or anyone, this bridge has been slated for demolition. This bridge deserves to be left standing, and demolition is a waste of history and taxpayer dollars.
