Another impressive waste of taxpayer dollars! A historic truss bridge that deserved to be restored is replaced by a two lane bridge that rarely sees a single car on it, let along two cars at once! The average daily traffic on this road in 2002 was 47 cars! The threshold for a "Very Low Volume Road" as defined by AASHTO is a whopping 400 ADT! This bridge would have been a great candidate for rehabilitation for light vehicular use. This was the last vehicular truss bridge in the county when it was demolished so it was locally significant. The bridge had an 1889 construction date listed in the National Bridge Inventory, but this date seemed too old for what appeared to be an early 20th Century truss bridge based on its traditional composition and riveted connections.
