This bridge leads to Thurmond, an unusual ghost town in that it is pristinely preserved by the National Park Service and even has an Amtrak stop. The bridge is also unusual. The existing railroad bridge is also unusual because it includes a one-lane highway road next to it, which is cantilevered off of the through truss main span via riveted brackets. The roadway is part of the bridge's original 1915 construction. The existing 1915 railroad bridge is not the original bridge at this location.
