This bascule bridge is noteworthy as a product of Depression era relief programs, and also for its unique architectural details. The bridge features fixed approach spans that follow a unique arched design, with ribs that fan out around the curves. The bridge tender buildings are also noteworthy for their design. Overall the bridge expresses the period architectural thinking of Art Moderne and Art Deco. The bridge appears to be unaltered and is an outstanding example of period architecture.
