Featuring immensely ornate architectural details, this monumental bridge has been beautifully restored. The restoration of this bridge is the first known bridge in Massachusetts to use historically correct riveting in the restoration project. Specifically, rivets were used to create replica v-laced columns for the arch spans.
This bridge is a two hinge arch bridge. There is a pin visible at the crown, but this was an erection pin and the crown was rendered rigid after the completion of the bridge.
