This is one of the most unusual truss bridges in Ontario. Its design is hard to classify. Its diagonal members form a Warren truss configuration. However, the strongly polygonal bottom chord which forms a very distinct arch shape is nearly identical to the Little Hell Gate spans of the Hell Gate Bridge, although those spans have diagonal members that do not follow a Warren truss configuration. The Little Hell Gate spans were described as inverted bowstring spans. As such, HistoricBridges.org is listing this bridge in Port Credit as an inverted bowstring as well. The Port Credit Bridge features enormous built-up box beams for the diagonal members and top chord. The bottom chord is formed of massive eyebar bundles. The overall construction is very heavy duty.
The Harahan Bridge in the United States also has an approach span that appears somewhat similar to this bridge.
