Pin-connected truss bridges are rare in Ontario. Moreover, of the surviving pin-connected truss bridges, nearly all are through truss bridges. It is a mystery why pony truss spans (used for short spans well-suited to the many small rivers and creeks in Ontario) with pin connections are more rare than through truss examples. This is the exact opposite of rivet-connected truss bridges in Ontario where pony truss spans far outnumber through truss spans.
This bridge was abandoned, and the metal shows signs of substantial deterioration. However given its rarity it would have been nice to see this bridge restored. It would have been a great candidate for relocation, restoration, and reuse for pedestrian use in a new location. Sadly, as of 2020 however the bridge has been removed and not replaced.
