Bridge Documentation

This is one of two non-historic bridges crossing the big three rivers in downtown Pittsburgh and is only included here for continuity of people wishing to tour the famous downtown Pittsburgh bridges. As an all-modern bridge, it has simple concrete substructure, and all welded/bolted construction. It does offer an interesting comparison to older arch bridges in the city like the West End Bridge and the Fort Pitt Bridge. Unlike the Veterans Bridge over on the Allegheny River, this bridge is at least something more than a slab of concrete, although it is mind-numbingly plain and boring compared to the spectactular bridge it replaced. Please see the HAER documentation, which is for the previous bridge at this location.
