This bridge is right on the state line, but is under Pennsylvania ownership.
This bridge is a small three panel half-hip pony truss that has been altered with girders that do the work of supporting the roadway. The trusses, therefore, are decorative only. The bridge is not overly significant, but is still an attractive part of the roadway it is located on. The retrofit done to the bridge does not change the appearance of the bridge as viewed from the road.
Information and Findings From Pennsylvania's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The pin connected pony truss bridge has been changed to a deck girder bridge by the addition of longitudinal beams superstructure outside the truss lines. The stresses are transferred into the rolled girders. The trusses support themselves. The work dates to 1996. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge carries a two-lane road over Ashtabula Creek in a sparsely developed, wooded setting with scattered, undistinguished residences on the Pennsylvania-Ohio state line.
