This iconic bridge is a graceful and noteworthy example of a steel deck arch bridge. It is also noted for its ornamental details. It includes railings bearing the seals of the 13 colonies as well as Allegheny County. The crown hinge on the bridge is covered by a decorative shield which also features the seal of Allegheny County. The bridge was designed in collaboration with Benno Janssen, architects.
