Bridge Documentation

This fascinating Warren pony truss bridge with a wooden deck is located on private property and appears to have been moved from a different location, judging by the abutments. The bridge's structural steel is a lightweight style and composed of angles, similar to that used on the 10 Mile Road Bridge in Michigan. The Babtiste Creek Private Bridge has a home-made look to it however. It may have been substantially altered when it was moved or it may have been built by a farmer or a very small local contractor who happened to own a riveting machine or something. The bridge is indeed old, as it is all riveted, but some of the rivet holes on the steel have no rivets, like someone just didn't rivet everything they could. The other thing is that on the second panel from the left, in the above photo, the connection at the top chord is not in the center between the verticals! Moreover, the second panel from the right side is longer than that second-from-the-left panel. The bridge has been altered from original design, as the lateral bracing under the bridge is welded onto the floor beams via a piece of plate... an obvious non-original connection method.
